Let Us Remember..........

This poem was written to highlight the work done by our patriotic leaders for our motherland.It is a shame to see where our politicians are taking India now.

As we unfurl our Tricolour this fifty-ninth glorious year,
Bow your heads in homage for all our martyrs dear.

Let us remember the Mahatma who led us on our way,
Gave Ahimsa and Non-cooperation as weapons with us to stay.

Let us remember Tilak, for whom freedom was a goal,
He said it was his birthright, to achieve which he played a major role.

Let us remember S.C Bose who formed the Azad Hind Troop,
"Vande Mataram!" cried the jawans and put the British in a soup.

Let us remember Nehru modern India's architect,
He was our first Prime Minister,helped our country resurrect.

Let us remember Bhagat Singh,Vivekanand and Lajpatrai,
Thy instilled patriotic fervour for freedom they were willing to die.

Let us remember the thousands unsung heroes who laid down their life,
Each year we celebrate our independence which they won for us after untold strife.
