Seven Musical Notes

Music is refreshing,
It can open doors,
Music has no boundaries,
With it nothing bores.

There are seven notes in music,
In a combination of sharp and flat,
A musical notaton is called solfege,
Music can move souls, nothing beats that!

Melodious musical journeys,
Are made with these notes seven,
Music is an elixer of life,
With music we get a taste of heaven!

These notes can be used as -
The notes- C, D, E, F, G, A, B......
The Indian Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni......
Or the famous Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti!

So enjoy your life to the fullest,
With music by your side,
Music and its wonder notes seven,
Will help you, your problems over-ride!

Six for the Sixth Sense

Have you ever felt,
Something just does not seem right,
As you hesitate and stay away.....
Then after that you realize,
What you did was the right thing,
It just helped you away from a mishap stay.

A sixth sense,
A slight intuition,
Can sometimes much damage control do,
Unknowingly and without a clue,
A feeling so different and strange,
Can solve some mysteries for you.

So the sixth sense
Which some feel is a myth,
Is not to be ignored so I plead.....
It is an inner voice, a gut feeling,
That is like an angel in your time of need,
See the benefits slowly unfold, if only you pay heed.

Five for Five Elements

Wood, fire, earth, metal and water,
They are elements in Chinese Philosophy five,
Used to describe connections and inter-actions,
They include everything in the universe-dead or alive.

These five elements are widely used,
In Chinese medicine, philosophy, feng shui and martial art,
They are also associated closely,
With astrology, seasons and even matters of the heart!

The five elements promote development,
A harmonized balance in the universe they maintain,
These elements are fueling , forming, containing and feeding,
Through various combinations and permutations they sustain.

The five elements found in the universe,
Have secrets within them to explore,
Once you learn about their uniqueness and strength,
You will learn about the ethos of man and universe from the core.

Confined within Walls Four

Confined within the walls four,
Unable to do things she wanted to anymore.

As a little girl she had her parents to obey,
Now as married woman her in-laws keep her freedom at bay.

Daughter, sister, wife and mother,
Playing these roles was not much of a bother.

But losing her self, losing her sense of ME,
Brought her to the end of her tether, she had to disagree.

Being confined within the walls four,
Was not what she wanted, she wanted more.

She wanted to work, explore what she could do,
She wanted to find her true self, grow into a person new.

She no longer wanted to be just  a mother or wife,
She wanted to move ahead,do something more in life.

In this age of computers it's sad to see women confined,
If men and women are equals, why is one gender left behind?

Let her free, see what heights she can scale,
Like a kite in the wide, azure skies, freely let her sail!

Three for Tricolour

Three colours that bring immense pride,
Three colours that speak of In dia's great stride,
Three colours that serve as an ode to our nation,
A nation that stood strong against trial and tribulation.

Three colours- saffron, white and green,
With the 24-spoked blue Ashoka Chakra in between,
Three colours that signify sacrifice, peace and prosperity,
And the wheel promotes progress- 24-hour mobility.

Three colours that rekindle in our hearts patriotism true,
Three colours that unite all Indians-even me and you,
Three colours whose glory will surely reach far,
Three colours of our  flag- our beloved Tirangaa!

Two for Two Hands That Serve!

कराग्रे  वसंते  लक्ष्मी ; करमधे सरस्वति
करमुले  तु  गोविन्द ; प्रभाते कर दर्शनम

Two hands to do many a good deed,
Hands that serve at the time of need.

Hands to wipe away a lonely tear,
Hands to caress when one is near.

Hands that support and do the chores,
Hands that can unite the lakhs and crores.

Hands of farmers that in their fields till,
Hands of artists that show exemplary skill.

Hands of a loving mother who cooks,
Hands of a soldier who after our safety looks.

Hands that hold and hug when in pain,
Hands that protect nature to sustain.

Hands that help us write a poem, pen a book,
Hands that help a cricketer hit a hook.

Hands that lead us towards the path right,
Hands that help us put up a good fight.

God has blessed us with these hands two,
To do good unto others like a samaritan true!

One stands for Oneness!

Oneness is the need of the hour,
'Cause it's the thread of humanity that binds,
Our religions, faiths and creeds may differ,
But in unity alone,it is that one peace finds!

Temple, church, mosque, gurudwara,
Wherever you go to find solace,
Remember, the paths to the Almighty may vary,
But all faiths teach us of love, peace and hearts full of grace!

As Indians we need to stand united,
Inspite of diversities, stand together as one,
Not tolerance, but with respect for one another,
All the barriers and rifts will be undone.

The threats from all around,
They keep attacking our very core,
When Indians are united as one,
We can win all battles, towards progress open new doors!

O stands for the outlook we have to change,
N stands for the need of the hour,
E stands for the enlightened vision,
One India- a united India will take us afar!

Z for Zero- Tolerance!

Molestation , kidnap, rape and road rage,
Dowry death, acid attacks and murders on the rise,
Seeing the increasing numbers of these one wonders,
Is this what happens when humanity dies?

Self-obsession , corruption,and hatred untold,
No place for compassion, all we see is greed,
The situation has turned from bad to worse,
Stringent laws against the perpetrators we need.

Strange are the days where culprits roam free,
While victims are shamed and left to bear,
Atrocities unlimited are committed on the weak,
As against the powerful none can win or dare.

It's time to end these disturbing tales,
Zero tolerance is the need of the hour,
It's time to come together and put an end,
Or this hatred will our very existence mar.

What we need is total non-acceptance,
Of behavior which is anti-social in any way,
Strict and uncompromising application of laws,
Should be the deterrent that will keep anti-socials at bay!

Zero tolerance-we need it now.....
Zero tolerance can pave the way........
Zero tolerance can bring the change.......
Zero tolerance should be here to stay!

Y for Yes-men!

There are times in life when one,
Has to their true opinions share,
'Cause only when the truth is thus spoken,
There can be change, but only few dare!

There is no dearth of yes-men around,
They are the ones who in approval nod,
Always agree with authority, do what is told,
In the quest for acceptance it is always-Yes, My Lord!

If you ask the reason for their yes,
One can be that they don't want to seem uncool,
Maybe they don't want to others' feelings hurt,
Probably they haven't any opinion of their own (what a fool!)

The yes-men are the appeasers,
They seem to agree even when they actually don't,
Deep inside they know you are doing something wrong,
But give an honest opinion, they just won't!

They think the only way up the ladder of success,
Is by saying yes, regardless of appropriateness or bearing,
It is usually done to be on the good side,
As speaking our mind, or the truth takes some daring!

With no one to oppose, only yes-men around,
Progress and productivity can come to a standstill,
When no original ideas and opinions are provided,
Creativity, novelty and originality one cannot instill!

Remember, you can be a good person with a kind heart,
And still speak out your mind and say NO,
Because just sitting on the fence or being a yes-man,
Won't show you new possibilities that help you or your company grow!

So by all means say YES when and wherever it is due,
Just don't say NO to oppose or be a rebel,
Think wisely and if you deem fit,
Speak the truth, and in the choice of doing the right thing, revel!

X for X-Factor!

Everyone keeps looking for it,
Be it on any music or talent show,
The X-factor is a special talent or quality,
That surely brings success at your door!

That little X-tra something,
Something that sets you apart,
That which makes one unique,
And makes you stand out from the start!

The X-factor is in-born,
With it there is nowhere to hide,
Your innate abilities and charisma,
Will all your other flaws over-ride!

In this era of competition,
Where everyone vies to success find,
The X-factor is a sure winner,
It leaves the others far behind!

The X-factor is not common,
But yet females have it more,
Males have the XY chromosome,
Females have X twice(XX),you know!

The X-factor is a variable in a situation,
That on the outcome has maximum impact,
So when I say give more freedom to women,
It will make the world better, I know it for a fact!

W for Weight Watch - Wait and Watch

Stress level increases, BP goes high,
My weight has increased (again!) by five!
What a night-mare, I let out a scream,
Just can't get rid of my weight it seems!

Those ugly tyres around my waist,
Just don't disappear owing to my taste,
I am on a 'see food' diet you know,
When I see food I eat it, and in girth I grow!

My jiggly thighs and wobbly arms,
Double chin and huge posterior alarms,
Try as I might, my weight-it just shoots high,
All I can do is regret and sigh!

Diet and gym - not my cup of tea,
Burgers, chips and pastries all cry out for me!
Push-ups, squats and those dreadful planks,
They are really not for me- please,No Thanks!

So what can I do, besides wait and watch,
And see myself grow like a huge, ugly blotch,
My growing weight has always been a bane,
Weight-watching is really driving me insane!

It's not that I am not inspired enough,
But diet plans and exercises-they all seem so tough,
At the most I can manage for two days or three,
After that once again I am on a binge(ing)  spree!

Don't get me wrong, but now I have lost all hope,
Weight-watching for me,has little or no scope!
Now I just wait and watch myself grow,
I eat what I relish,and now I don't even feel low!

V for Vela!

For the ones who are uninitiated to Bambaiyya slang.
Vela = someone who has got nothing to do and annoys other people who are busy
/  a jobless person
Source- Urban Dictionary.

For a vela like me,
Life is a breeze,
No work, no deadlines.
I am all at ease!

So when I see others ,
Working their guts out,
I laugh aloud (in my head)
They are fools without any doubt!

'Cause a life as a vela,
Is everyone's dream,
Khao-piyo aish karo,
No boss at you will scream!

So as a certified vela,
I do my good deed,
I hinder and irritate others,
Seeing them work, my heart bleeds!

A vela I am, a vela I will be,
A future so bright and glorious I see,
All you busy- bodies, neck-deep in work,
I am happy as every chore I shirk!

All call me vela- a jobless fool,
But you know what, this life is cool,
Nothing gained nothing lost- I am my boss,
Goals, achievements- Let them go for a toss!
