Ped hu mein.....

Ped hu mein ped hu,
Ji haan, mein ek ped hu!
Hariyaali hai mujhse chhayi,
Baarish bhi to mein hi laayi,
Foolon-fallon ki karu bauchhaar,
Isske badle sirf maangu mein pyaar!

Ped hu mein ped hu,
Ji haan, mein ek ped hu!
Chidiyon ka hai mujhpe vaas,
Taazi hawa ki tum lete saans,
Kadakti dhoop mein chhav mein deti ,
Paryavaran ko sawaar mein leti.

Ped hu mein ped hu,
Ji haan, mein ek ped hu!
Lakdi ka bhandaar bhi mein hu,
Jadi-bootiyon ki dukaan bhi mein hu,
Kaagaz bhi mujhsehi hi banta,
Mujhsehi bhuksharan hai thamata.

Ped hu mein ped hu,
Ji haan, mein ek ped hu!
Aur kya kahu mein meri gaatha,
Mujhe to sirf dena hi aataa.
Parr kab karegaa maanav mera sanmaan,
Aakhir kab ayegaa  usse ye gyaan.

Ped hu mein ped hu,
Ji haan, mein ek ped hu!
Janhit mein farmaan kiyaa hai,
Ek nivedan dilse diyaa hai,
Shrushti ka hu mein ek vardaan,
Sambhaalo insaan, bachaale mere praan!

Exercise

One, two, three, four and five,
Off to the park we go to play,
Six, seven, eight, nine and ten,
Let's keep ourselves active each day!

We need to move our hands and legs
So let's run,  jump and bend,
We must not be lazy anymore,
Let's start a healthier trend!

Come play catch or throw me the ball,
There are so many games you know,
Laughter and fun will soon follow,
Cause this is the right way to grow!

Play football, cricket or skip a rope,
Make your choice, take a pick,
Cycle, swim or climb a tree,
Jog a little or have a run quick.

Exercise each day
For healthy body and mind,
This will make you fit
And you will never be left behind.

Cleanliness

Health and hygiene is the way,
To be happy and brighten your day,
It's always nice to be squeaky clean,
Let me explain just what I mean.

Brush your pearly whites not once but twice,
A daily bath well keep you clean and smelling nice,
Brush your hair up really neat,
When you are back home just wash those smelly feet.

Wash your hands before and after meals,
For the fate of germs it surely seals,
Use a handkerchief when you cough or sneeze,
Wear clean clothes, don't let your nails' size increase.

Personal cleanliness is a must,
For an unclean slob, none will trust.
And just as you keep yourself clean,
Look around at all the places you have been.

Keep them looking spic and span,
Littering you should forever ban,
Cleanliness, you see, will take you far,
It's a reflection of just the person you are!

So let's work together for a cleaner me and you,
It's not something that's hard to do,
Clean body and environment, say yes to that,
Cause for good health and hygiene it's a glorious start.!

In Sickness and Health

Life is not a bed of roses they say,
It's not all happiness and gain,
Once you are in life's journey you learn,
Each one has to endure some pain.

The cross we have to bear seems heavy,
We always want to know,  "Why me? "
We think our pain is the greatest,
Others' misery we fail to see.

When in the pink of health we often
Take things for granted, pay no heed,
To niggling symptoms and worries,
That to grave health concerns may lead.

So as you walk along life's journey,
Remember to take care of your health,
Pay-checks, leisure, love don't matter,
Good health, after all is your true wealth.

Window

A window is my respite,
From this dis-connected world,
Takes me to unknown places,
That I see before me unfold.
To places of mystery and joy,
Where I can do my will,
With no boundaries or critiques,
With none to fear instill.
I lay my soul bare,
The real me I can be,
I don't feel lost, alone, dejected,
A new beautiful world I see!

Window to the World.

English is not just a language,
It's a window to the world,
Brings people and countries closer,
Breaks many barriers untold.
English removes a sense of dis-connect
Cause communication plays a vital role,
It serves as a common language,
In a world having languages galore!
Doing undermine the native tongue,
That links us to our homeland,
Yet, for a united world we need,
One language that all understand.
This window to the world enables,
Communication, trade and goodwill,
Brings better understanding between nations,
Helps fill gaps and peace instill.
Be it French, German, Hindi,
Japanese, Urdu or Mandarin,
We all need that connecting factor,
Here's where English makes the breakin.
So even as we take great pride,
In languages of our beloved lands,
Let's raise a toast to English,
A language most of the world understands.

Chai

Chai pe charchaa,
Hai baat badi aam,
Chai bas peete raho,
Ho subah ya shaam.

Jaise bhi ho,
Green tea ho ya kaali,
Har ek pyaala deti hai,
Wo sukoon matwaali.

Chai sabko bhaati hai,
Ameer ho ya gareeb ,
Budhon-jawaanon ko bhaati hai,
Dilwaalon ko laati kareeb.

Chai pe hote charche,
Cricket, siyasat aur jung ke,
Pyaar, cinemaa, zindagi,
Majhab aur haalat tang ki.

Na sochana isse mamooli,
Ye to drinks ka baap hai,
Ek chaiwala bana apna PM,
Iski aehamiyat badi saaf hai.

Chai peene waalon,
Manaate raho acche dinn ,
Zindagi kabhi na guzarti rahe,
Ek chai ke pyaar binn.

Trapped!

( Wanted to write about this when I came across a few articles and debates on euthanasia.
When and why do people opt to put an end to their lives? )

The walls are closing in
There is nowhere I can run or hide,
This feeling of helplessness, of failure
Just does not seem to leave my side.

Where have my carefree days gone?
Why do I feel so much pain?
Is this all my future holds for me?
Will I ever see myself smile again?

Here I was making plans
Of travel, leisure and pleasure,
While fate had other plans for me
Something I couldn't fathom or measure.

My body is totally ravaged
I feel I am dying inside,
When will I feel at peace again?
I am clueless, with none to guide.

Now I know what they go through
The people who from medical problems ail,
All those years of constant ill-health,
Where medications and surgeries fail.

Some of them silently suffer
And dread to see what their loved ones go through,
While others cannot bear to be the cause
Of misery and pain for their beloved few.

Sooner or later pain, monetary loss
And untold helplessness takes its toll,
There is no solution in sight
Life just turns into a nightmare, a dread-hole.

This is when thoughts of suicide
And euthanasia come to the fore,
All one covets is an end to the drudgery called life
As they feel trapped and can't take it anymore!

In a Brand New Place.....

( The first Poetry Tuesday of the year was here and I penned the following poem .The theme was new year, new place or new beginnings......)

It's not that I haven't tried,
I have succeeded but at times I did fail.
There have been ups and downs in life,
We all know it isn't always a smooth sail.

But then lately, nothing seems to be in control,
For just how long can I keep my dreams on hold?
I feel lonely, incomplete, full of self-doubt,
My thoughts, my feelings, lay buried deep- untold.

I try to push myself, but something holds me back,
Confined and tethered by rules I am bound.
Alone in a crowd with none to call my own,
I try to find solace but love isn't around.

Expectations from society, family and my own,
Escape from all this -far away I want to run.
No one seems to care , I am in deep despair,
This world, these people, my fears I want to shun.

The walls are closing in on me, life seems futile,
Have to go somewhere else, all this is too much to face.
Just one final decision, that's all it will take,
Then I will be at peace, in a brand new place!

(There is a spate of suicides and it makes me feel sad to know that there may be many more who are contemplating suicide.Dejection, depression, sickness, money matters, love matters, peer pressure, fear of failure......the reasons may be many but the result is the same-snuffing away of a life....forever.
What goes on in a person's mind when he decides to bring an end to his life? )
