(A poem on the disgrace of female foeticide and infanticide.
Raise your voice against female infanticide.)
I would have been a teacher, making learning full of fun.
Raise your voice against female infanticide.)
I would have been a teacher, making learning full of fun.
Or an actress or director, entertaining everyone.
I would have been a judge, or lawyer in a court,
Maybe an agile sportswoman, excelling in some sport.
I would have been a member of the Indian Armed Force,
A Miss India or a model, attractive in every pose.
I would have been a writer, or a pilot growing wings,
Maybe a bold reporter, exposing scams through stings.
I would have been an environmentalist, or social-worker doing my bit,
An artist or dress-designer, making each dress a perfect fit.
I would have been a model sister,daughter,mother,wife,
Someone who brings happiness and does away with strife.
I would have done so much, made my parents proud,
With so many avenues to explore and stand out in a crowd.
I would have been the apple, of my parents' eye,
But alas, it is my parents, who willed that I should die!
'It will be a girl'-declared the sex-determination test,
And even before I was born, I was cruelly put to rest.
I would have been alive, what a life I would have lead,
